- Eligible EU/EEA citizens who work, are self-employed, study, or have sufficient resources and comprehensive health cover.
- Requirements
- Apply for MEU1 within four months of arrival with identity and purpose-of-stay evidence, fees and certified supporting records. Non-EU family members use their separate residence-card category.

EU residence registration
Register your residence under EU free-movement rules and continue to satisfy the relevant employment, study or self-sufficiency conditions.

Permanent residence · after 5 years
EU citizens can acquire permanent residence after five years of continuous legal residence under the applicable EU free-movement conditions.

Cypriot citizenship · ordinary basis
Normally seven cumulative years of lawful residence in the preceding ten years plus the final twelve months continuously (limited absences allowed). Greek B1, civic knowledge, means of support, accommodation, character and intention to remain are required.
Holding a Cyprus residence card while living elsewhere is insufficient. Permanent residence is not a compulsory stage for every nationality applicant.
