YOUR LONG-TERM PATHWAY
Residency to citizenship
- 01
Temporary investor residence
Maintain the qualifying company investment and the permit’s ongoing registration and compliance conditions.
- 02
Permanent residence · from 5 years
EU long-term resident status requires five years of lawful continuous residence, stable sufficient income and A2 Latvian. Ordinary permitted absences are no more than six consecutive months or ten months in total. Successful applicants receive a permanent residence permit.
- 03
Latvian citizenship · 5 years with PR
Naturalisation ordinarily requires five years of permanent residence and evidence of living in Latvia, lawful income, Latvian language and knowledge of the Constitution, anthem and history. Rules on retaining another nationality must also be checked.
The citizenship period is not five years from the first investment permit: permanent residence must first be obtained and its qualifying period satisfied.
Each stage requires its own qualifying conditions and decision. The years shown are eligibility periods, not approval times.
