Temporary permission: This route permits the approved visit, study or work activity. It does not itself grant permanent residence or citizenship. A separate eligible settlement route must be secured before planning a nationality application.

Secure acceptance and the provider’s visa documents, submit the ED application and complete any education-authority requirements. Maintain enrolment and obtain extensions through the proper institutional and immigration process.

Acceptance by an eligible school, university or training provider and a genuine educational purpose. Institutional approvals depend on the course type.

Acceptance and enrolment letters, provider licence or registration, financial support and the required education-authority approvals. Degree-level cases can require criminal-record evidence.

Temporary permission for the approved study purpose. Eligible degree students may have separate ED Plus benefits under their category.

Ordinary ED status does not provide a direct permanent-residence or citizenship pathway. Work and post-graduation permission depend on a separate eligible category.
