An initial two-year investor permission, with continuation subject to maintaining the qualifying commitment.
Eligibility
Eligible non-EU investors with lawful, transferable resources. Russian and Belarusian citizens, including specified dual nationals, are currently suspended from this programme.
Requirements
Choose €250,000 in an innovative start-up, €500,000 in a limited company, €2 million in government bonds or €1 million philanthropy. Obtain a Nulla Osta, apply for the visa and complete the investment within three months of entry.

Residency to citizenship

    Enter on the appropriate visa and keep a valid residence permit, maintaining the qualifying investment, work or independent means.

    EU long-term residence · from 5 years

    Usually available after five years of eligible lawful residence, with adequate income and the required Italian-language evidence.

    Italian citizenship · usually 10 years

    For most non-EU nationals, naturalisation requires ten years of legal residence. B1 Italian, qualifying income, a satisfactory criminal record and the nationality assessment are separate requirements, shorter periods apply to certain groups.

Permanent residence and nationality are separate applications. An investment or elective-residence permit is not a direct citizenship programme.

How does this application work?

Apply online for the Investor Visa committee’s Nulla Osta. Use it for the consular visa application, enter Italy and request the investor residence permit. Complete and evidence the qualifying investment within three months of entry and retain it for renewal.
