Financially independent residence
Does this service lead to residence, settlement or citizenship?
Residence · nationality is discretionary: Financially independent residence supports a home in Monaco. Renewal of residence is separate from Monegasque naturalisation, which is a sovereign discretionary decision. No investment-to-passport or automatic settlement sequence is offered.
How does this application work?
If required for your nationality, obtain the French long-stay visa for Monaco first. Secure qualifying accommodation and evidence financial resources and good character, then apply to Monaco’s Residents Section. Attend its interview and complete residence-card issuance and subsequent renewals.
Who is eligible for this route?
Suitable local accommodation, sufficient means of support and a satisfactory personal background. Non-EEA applicants generally need the appropriate long-stay visa first.
What documents and financial commitments are required?
A Monegasque bank attestation or other accepted resource evidence, lease/title or hosting documents, passport, civil records, criminal-history declarations and a detailed account of the source of wealth. Complete the relevant visa and resident-permit procedures. No universal government bank-deposit minimum is stated in this guidance.
What status or rights does this route provide?
Permission to reside in Monaco, renewable under the applicable residence conditions, it is not citizenship.
