Employer-linked residence under a qualifying labour category, including the ordinary-staff and technical-staff quotas.

  2. 02
    Permanent residence

Complete the category’s provisional period and apply for permanent residence. For the usual two-year provisional categories, a fresh application and continued qualifying evidence are required.

Ordinary naturalisation requires five consecutive years of qualifying residence. A permanent-resident card, Spanish, basic geography, history and civic knowledge, and the statutory nationality declaration are required. Certain family and reciprocity cases have shorter periods.

Naturalisation is a separate legal application. A residence permit maintained through occasional visits should not be presented as satisfying consecutive residence.

Each stage requires its own qualifying conditions and decision. The years shown are eligibility periods, not approval times.
