    Apply for permanent residence

Indefinite residence for a person receiving a qualifying lifetime pension from abroad.

    Permanent residence

This category starts with permanent residence once approved, there is no compulsory temporary-residence stage for the principal applicant. Dependants’ permissions can differ.

  3. 03
Panamanian citizenship · normally 5 years

Ordinary naturalisation requires five consecutive years of qualifying residence. A permanent-resident card, Spanish, basic geography, history and civic knowledge, and the statutory nationality declaration are required. Certain family and reciprocity cases have shorter periods.

Naturalisation is a separate legal application. A residence permit maintained through occasional visits should not be presented as satisfying consecutive residence.

Each stage requires its own qualifying conditions and decision. The years shown are eligibility periods, not approval times.
