Provisional residence
Professional residence for a qualified foreign graduate in a profession open to non-Panamanians.

Permanent residence
Complete the category’s provisional period and apply for permanent residence. For the usual two-year provisional categories, a fresh application and continued qualifying evidence are required.

Panamanian citizenship · normally 5 years
Ordinary naturalisation requires five consecutive years of qualifying residence. A permanent-resident card, Spanish, basic geography, history and civic knowledge, and the statutory nationality declaration are required. Certain family and reciprocity cases have shorter periods.
Naturalisation is a separate legal application. A residence permit maintained through occasional visits should not be presented as satisfying consecutive residence.
